The latest invention from Yoso, innovators in Canadian non-dairy foods, harnesses the superpower of Canadian-grown oats and delivers natural flavours of oats, vanilla and blueberries with ZERO sweeteners
Yoso introduces YOATS – a creamy, delicious and nutritious oat yogurt – as the latest invention in its 20 year history of bringing plant-based products to Canada’s yogurt category. Yoso was a pioneer in soy-based foods, and the first to introduce unsweetened coconut and almond & cashew yogurts, a staple on grocery shelves today. With the introduction of YOATS, it once again forges new territory by tapping into the tremendous potentialof oats.
YOATS meets the market’s increasing demand for plant-based, wholesome foods packed with protein and nutrients; all three flavours of YOATS are also unsweetened, addressing the demand for no added sugar; and oats are an exciting new ingredient because they are a nutritional powerhouse as well as a success story in Canadian agriculture.
“YOATS is the 4th product category we are introducing to the Canadian market since my brother, Erik, and I started Yoso in 1999,” explains Francis Lo, Co-Founder of Yoso. “There’s a rich history of plant-based food innovation in our family going back to our grandfather commercializing soy milk in China in 1940. We see it as our responsibility and our life’s work to continue this spirit of innovation bringing wholesome, delicious options to Canadians.”
Yoats will be available in more than 150 of the close to 2,000 stores across Canada where you can purchase Yoso products. The 440 gram containers will be available in the following unsweetened flavours: plain, vanilla and blueberry.
About YOATS
YOATS is a true innovation – a rare feat in the crowded food sector. It is the first oat yogurt on the Canadian market and it ticks all the boxes for nutrient-packed, flavour-full goodness that Yoso demands of all its plant-based food products.
- Oats are high in fibre and loaded with nutrients and antioxidants including beta-glucan – the key element in reducing cholesterol to improve heart health, lowering the glycemic index to help control diabetes, lowering the risk of some cancers and improving overall digestive health.
- Oats contain higher levels of protein than many other grains making them a great option for including more plant-based sources of protein in our diets.
- Unlike other grains, oats are naturally gluten free! Approximately one-third of Canadians regularly search for gluten-free food options, either because of Celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
YOATS also packs a powerful probiotic punch! Each 175 g serving contains more than 1 billion CFUs of lactobacillus acidophilus culture. This healthy bacteria is the most researched probiotic by the scientific community.
Like all Yoso products, YOATS is naturally sweetened, gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free, peanut free, preservative free, carrageenan free, casein free, and vegan.
Glorious Canadian oats
Canada is the world’s largest exporter of oats, and Canadians alone will consume nearly 2 million metrics tonnes this year. As plant-based products gain in popularity, oats are also a great option because they require less intensive production than other ingredient categories.
Sourcing Canadian-grown oats means that Yoso is able to reduce its environmental footprint. Yoso also has a higher degree of confidence in Canada’s quality assurance standards by sourcing oats from a uniquely qualified provider in the Prairies. Only Oats has a Purity Promise—a strict production protocol that guarantees their products are gluten free by eliminating potential for cross-contamination with other grains.
